Zach Brasel started working at ICQ three years ago. Through his hard work and dedication, he has built a rewarding career as a validation engineer and developed a leadership role within his respective team.

Zach’s Journey to ICQ

After graduating with a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2015, he continued his education and earned an M.S. in Chemical & Biochemical Engineering in 2017. He then worked part-time and full-time at two jobs before joining ICQ.

First, Zach worked at a regulatory affairs consulting firm. His role entailed submitting new drug applications and annual reports to the FDA on behalf of his clients. Then, he worked as a junior process engineer at a company that turns trash into usable fuel.

“These two jobs gave me knowledge of working in an FDA-regulated industry, as well as experience in an engineering role. What I learned and experienced at both jobs served me well when I transitioned into my current role,” said Zach.

After these two positions, Zach was eager to dive into the biotechnology commissioning, qualification, and validation field with ICQ.

“I truly feel like this company has what it takes to be successful at any project site and to handle any issues that come up.”

Starting a Rewarding Career in the Biotech Field

Zach started at ICQ in November 2018 and has exclusively worked on Catalent’s site in Maryland. In the past three years, he’s developed more of a leadership role with his team. He’s managed projects, trained junior staff, and helped senior consultants get acclimated when new to the site.

“ICQ was the perfect opportunity to get my career started in the biotech field. Working at a new facility build-out has shown me more than working at an already established site would have. It has been an honor to be a part of this project,” said Zach.

A typical day in his life at ICQ entails writing and executing IOQ Protocols for GMP Equipment, and then writing final reports for those IOQs. He coordinates with various System Owners about how to best qualify their equipment, communicates with Validation & QA to ensure the Validation department’s deliverables are on time, and maintains a high level of quality in the documents.

Zach Loves ICQ’s Outstanding Leadership

“What I love most about working at ICQ is the leadership in the company,” said Zach. “That includes all the site project managers, my personal manager, as well as the senior management. I truly feel like this company has what it takes to be successful at any project site and to handle any issues that come up.”
